Web16 okt. 2015 · Any reading less than infinity means the pick up coil is junk. 2. With your VOM set on RX10K scale (or auto), touch each terminal with your leads from your meter. The reading you see here should be around 500 to 1500 ohms and the reading should be steady as the wires are wiggled. If the coil fails either test, replace the pick up coil. Web26 jan. 2004 · My first choice is a MSD 6A. Second choice is the stock Duraspark. The stock GM HEI-module are only good up to 4000 - 4500 RPM then there are no more "power". The stock DuraSpark is actually a pretty good ignition, since the DS coil is a high output design (about 40KV). I doubt if the GM HEI would be any better.

Web15 mrt. 2012 · Check the continuity of of that center wire to the body of the HEI, see that there's no corrosion where it attaches to the body. Star locks are good. There's a condensor on the wiring harness, get a new one or just a new GM wire harness. If that condensor is bad or weak it may allow the module to see voltage spikes from the coil. I just went through this using a remote-mounted HEI module triggered by a Chrysler pick-up in an old GM delco points distributor.
